March 2009 - Railroad crossings in Indonesia are generally not guarded with barriers. Only busy crossings, mostly in urban areas, have barriers over both lanes. Almost all railroad crossings have their own guard that lowers the barriers if a train is approaching. Many road users however will only stop for them if they are lowered almost entirely, just to save a few minutes.
