Gorontalo is a province of Indonesia. It is on the island of Sulawesi, and borders Central Sulawesi and North Sulawesi provinces. Gorontalo was split off from North Sulawesi in December 2000. The capital is Gorontalo City.
Administrative divisions
As of 2004, the province is administratively divided into four regencies (
kabupaten) and one city (
kota):
- Boalemo Regency
- Bone Bolango Regency
- Gorontalo Regency
- Pohuwato Regency
- Gorontalo City
Population
The area of Gorontalo Province is about 12,215 km² with the total population in 2004 about 887,000 people.
