Located about 420 miles from Ambon, it is well known for its marine gardens and white sandy beaches. In the natural sea garden, there are numerous ornamental fish, shells and marine vegetation. Tanimbar is the home of Larat orchids, so that it is also called Lelemuku island. Teak wood, and iron wood are planted. Coconut and sago trees line the beaches. Cloth weaving image statues/carvings antiques in Tumbur and other villages. Natural salt is found in the center of this island. It is 300 m thick on the ground and covers an area of 4 Ha. Surrounded by the fire stones, it is locally referred to as Danau Garam Batu. Wild buffaloes are also found on this island.
