Purworejo is the name of a regency and of a town forty kilometers from east of Kebumen. Purworejo Regency occupies an area of 1,034.82 square kilometers and consists of 16 sub districts and 494 villages.It is known in the area mainly for two things namely its savory Gudeg Pendowo food and its Ndobalak folk dance. Quite recently, however, another attraction has been added such as Seplawan Indah Cave in the Kaligesing area.
