Kudus is fifty kilometers from Semarang or twenty-four kilometers from Demak. And Kudus is also the capital of Kudus Regency, which covers an area of 451,50 square kilometers and is divided into nine sub districts and 132 villages.
Kudus is nowadays famous for its clove cigarettes industry. The town has a Cigarettes Museum.
One prominent skilled carver, whose grave is still found in the Sunggingan Village, was Tee Ling Sing. The patterns of Kudus carvings are mostly flora and geometric.
After walking for half an hour to the north, once comes to a recreation resort called Montel Resort. There is a waterfall fifty-three meters high, called the Montel Waterfall. The temperatures is between 24° and 26° Celsius.
