The Bogor Regency borders to Jakarta in the north, to Bekasi and Tangerang Regencies, to the Sukabumi and Cianjur Regencies in the south, to the Municipality of Karawang in the east and to the east and the Lebak regency in the west. The Bogor Regency covers an area of 332,635 hectares, which are used for settlements, agriculture, and forestry. It is situated between 106°21' and 107°31' eastern longitude and 6°19' and 6°47' southern latitude, with an elevation varying between fifty meters and 3,000 meters above Sea level. The Bogor Regency can be reached from Jakarta via the Jagorawi toll road in 30 minutes, whereas from Bandung the Bogor Regency can be reached by car in less than terminals.
The inhabitants of Bogor work in agriculture, forestry, industry, as civil are Christians, Catholics, Hindus and Buddhists. From a historical point of view, the Bogor Regency still has a close relationship with the history of the Pakuan Padjajaran Kingdom, which was built between the 13th - 15th centuries. This is supported by some historical objects in the form of inscriptions as old manuscript written by some historians, which were found in the area.
The existing art is the art of Jawa Barat, such as puppets, Cianjuran (Sundanese songs), calung (songs, jokes with hitting musical instrument made from bamboo), kendang pencak art (drum-hitting to accompany martial arts).
Places of interest which can be visited are the place of puppet handicrafts in the Ciampea District, the stone handicrafts in Ciampea, the ring stone work in Cipari, in the Cisarua district, and a workshop where the gamelan musical instruments are made in the Bengkel Gong Sukama, situated at Jalan Pancasan 17, Bogor. All work is done by with simple equipment.
Souvenirs such handicrafts made from horns, walnut, the Rattan, Silver, bamboo, and puppets can be bought in this regency. Fruit such as talas, pineapples, bananas, etc, and some fresh vegetables like cabbage, carrot, radish, which are the products of this regency, can be bought from the stalls along the way to Cisarua and Cipanas.
