Harvesting time in Indonesia

Harvesting time in Indonesia
spacer April 2008 - Harvesting season is on it's way in Indonesia and for those who want to have a closer look there are several ways to do this. You can dive into some rice fields yourself, it should be fun but will maybe less be appreciated by the farmer. In Yogyakarta daytrips are organized so people who are interested can harvest themselves at ease while they are also able to learn something about the work of the average farmer here.

Fort Willem II in Ambarawa

Fort Willem II in Ambarawa
spacer April 2008 - Located near the main road from Semarang to Yogyakarta, just outside the village of Ambarawa is the old Dutch fortress 'Willem II'. However since Indonesian independence it has become a military complex and prison, it has a past of serving as a fortress during the Dutch coloial time and a prison during the Japanese occupation and revolution afterwards. Nowadays the fortress can be visited, but you are not allowed to make any pictures because it's a military object.

Updated: Current money in Indonesia

Since 2005, the newest set - with the bright colors as a basic remarkable feature - is completed. Below is a summary of what money you can expect to get in your hands while in Indonesia. Be aware of the different colors matching their own nomination.

Enhancement of search engine
Since indahnesia.com - together with it's online dictionary kamus-online.com and it's Dutch partner indonesiepagina.nl - is an ever growing website, it was time to have a more proper search engine. To avoid any problems when not displaying all the information available, we have made a Google-based search for the entire website.

Enhancement of stories mainpage
The stories homepage has been enhanced with easy navigation through the pages. However the stories homepage already had navigation, it's position made it that it wasn't in a logical place, so we moved it to a better spot. Furthermore stories are still displayed by the year, or just the latest ten, which is the automatic display when entering the page.

Enhancement of photobook mainpage
The photobooks homepage has been enhanced with easy navigation through the pages. Before all photobooks were listed on one long page, but as more photobooks are added frequently, this had become n inadequate ay of displaying them. Now each page contains ten photobooks.

Fort Van der Wijck, history along the main road
If you are on a visit to Kebumen, don't forget to bring a visit to fort Van der Wijck because you think it is not interesting. It's location is almost directly on the main road from Yogyakarta to Kebumen (on the northern side) - just 500 meters to the north in the town of Gombong - and it would be a miss if you didn't stop there for a visit.

Volcanoes in Indonesia
In recent days over 100 new pages have been added in relation to volcanoes in Indonesia. All the major volcanoes - which are active now or at least were in the past - are listed at indahnesia.om from today. For the currently active volcanoes, we also provided a quick status view of the actual status of the volcanoes.

History: Pre-colonial Indonesia
Since the history pages on indahnesia.com were not complete yet, much more information about pre-colonial Indonesia has been added here. Kingdoms and sultanates on the locations of current Indonesia are discusses here. This section includes some maps and pictures as well.

Provinces of Indonesia
The newest information added is those of all 33 provinces in Indonesia. Every province has it's own page, and some provinced also have pictures added to their pages.

Highlights per region
With giving this section of information a more prominent place on the website, we hope more people will use it.

Blog-links added to forum topics
All forum topics on indahnesia.com now feature a series of links to blogs. This will make it much more easy for visitors and frequent users to store the topics they find relevant in those blogs they own. Of course you can still bookmark the topics on your own computer as well. Forum members can also put topics in a 'watch-list' which is private to them.
