Batam; the failed Singapore?

April 2009 - Batam, at just a stones throw from the wealthy city-state of Singapore, has undergone tremendous growth just because of it's close proximity to that Singapore. Companies opened businesses on the island and the infrastructure was face-lifted. But the current Batam is in no way any match for Singapore because of a number of reasons. One of them, of course, is corruption.
